Crunch Munch Roar Story
Bay is waiting for dinner in front of the kitchen table, jiggling from time to time, full of excitement. Finally, Bay is served a delicious veggie meal and then magically travels to the 'world' on his/hers plate. Bay is astonished with the place, full of wonders, and goes on an incredible veggie adventure.
In a broccoli forest Bay eats up everything like a Godzilla! Suddenly a volcano erupts, throwing some scrumptious mash potatoes that Bay quickly gobbles up. After that Bay jumps off and bounces on enormous tomatoes, the last one smashes and Bay is paddling in tasty tomato pulp. Meanwhile the ground starts shaking and a big carrot rocket takes off up to the space.
Everything turns into black and the rocket appears again. The carrot flies and spins in zigzags but this time controlled by the fork Bay is holding. Bay swiftly swallows the rocket and burps loudly. The dinner is now finished and Bay leaves the kitchen with a full tummy.

First idea
(beatboard)
In the begining of the production , we have had different ideas of what we should include in the story. The main idea was to keep the continuity of the action, we wanted to make Bay travel around the plate.I wanted to keep the animation cohesive and I've tried to think of the ideas that could combine the actions together, but still have interesting transitions.
Final Storyboard
I found it really fun to storyboard and I would like to continue storyboarding in the future. While working on our animations and before the animatic we still changed some movement in the shot, storyboard was the base of it,but I m quite happy with overall look of it. For the transition from the kitchen to the real world we got inspired by the 'Crock Amok' short made by Animation Workshop students.
Changed shots
After meeting with our tutor Julia and later on Jay Clarke, we had to change couple shots that were either not amusing or could make the animation more captivating.First we have started of with the idea of having mash potatoes mountains on which Bay could splash and play with.In order to keep the continuity of the shot, we have thought of having a pan of Bay sliding down the potato hill on the the roller coaster bean. But after the feedback we have decided that the shots need to be change because the action of Bay wading in the mash seem mundane and cliche, so after the meeting I thought of having the volcano that could erupt and nicely help us with the beginning of the next shot ,which was the ride on the bean.
We wanted to keep the action moving correctly from the left to the right side, so some shots have been changed a lot, like the roller coaster one. I really wanted to use the idea of Bay coming closer to the camera as the bean swiftly moves, but i had to consider the amount of time we had for that shot.

Animation Process
I really enjoyed animation processof the project, my shots mostly included middle shots and closeups of the character.I have used some video references of me playing with the rocket. We wanted to make Bay cartoony and a bit nasty character, so I have tried to make him as fun and crazy as I could.Sometimes I have used some gifs of animations that inspired me for creating particular shot or I combined styles of to animations to create one. I was very excited to make the last shot in particular, I had to think of an interesting way of combining carrot rocket with Bay playing with it.Animating chewing, burping and lip sync was the most fun part of the shots, because I could make it as nuts as I wanted.
I have use TvPaint and to Compose some of the shots Adobe After Effects which I wasn't familiar with in the beginning but with the help of my team mate, I quickly adapted to the software.
I would love to spend some more time on my animations to improve the timing but because I had to work on other tasks to help my team, I wasn't fully able to experiment with the action.

Backgrounds designs and layouts
This process was something new for me and I was looking forward on creating backgrounds. I was excited to explore different possibilities of the layouts and backgrounds. I did a lot of researching online using Pinterest, that really inspired me and helped me with developing the ideas.
Broccoli forest
In this background I wanted to work on the depth of the shot, because the action is quick and we have decided to use the pan for it I had to keep it clear and simple. With the group we agreed on one of the ideas of my first tests.
Tomato bounce
Creating this particular background was the most exciting process, when I came up with the idea of Bay jumping on enormous tomatoes I had a vision of how the layout could look like. I liked the idea of using space in the shot and the perspective to make it look appealing. After talking with my team, we have decided to create a pan in that shot and follow the action of Bay bouncing.
Mushroom carousel
In this background I had to think about the importance of the positioning and composing the mushroom in the shot.It had to be big enough to show the animation but also it had to have space to breathe.
Roller coaster jump
This background was the quickest I have made,I had to think of how the props would have to move in order to understand the action of Bay jumping in and riding on the bean.
Prop designs
I did a lot of research before starting off with designing the props, I went out of my comfort zone and tried to be crazy with the designs, although some designs were pretty interesting we had to pick the ones that would make our work easier.
Designed shapes of mushrooms and tomatoes were really inspired by Derek Yaniger illustrations, who was one of the artist from our style guide. I tried to keep strong silhouettes as they did in fifties and at the same time, make it easier to animate some complexed movements.

Tomatoes
The textures, colors and over all look of the tomatoes changed the a lot during the process of designing. This is how the first design looked like.

Colour references
While deciding on the colors of the world on the plate. We have use a reference from artwork of a french illustrator Amielie Flechais.
We had to be careful with the pallet sometimes, because at times they looked very dark.

Script
In our animation we didn't have much dialogue,so in order to help the team understanding the storyboard I've described the movement and action in each shot.
